Die primär getakteten DC/DC-Wandler PCMDS150WK-IP65 von MTM Power wurden speziell für Anwendungen in der Fahrzeug- und Bahntechnik, aber auch für den Einsatz in Applikationen der Industrie und Telekommunikation entwickelt. Die verwendete Push-Pull Topologie ermöglicht weite Eingangsspannungsbereiche bei hohen Wirkungsgraden. Somit decken die 150-W-Wandler die gängigen 24/36/48/60/72/80/96/110 V-Batterie-Netze gemäß EN 50 155 ab. Mit Hilfe eines Transformators und einer sekundärseitigen Längsdrossel wird eine galvanisch getrennte Ausgangsspannung von 24 V erzeugt, die durch eine Pulsweitenmodulation nach dem "Current Mode"-Prinzip geregelt wird. Die UI-Kennlinie der Ausgangsspannung ist geeignet für die Versorgung schwieriger Lasten wie Kapazitäten, Motoren oder Halogenlampen. Die Abmessungen betragen 192 x 115 x 68 mm (Länge x Breite x Höhe). Der thermoselektiven Vakuumverguss (EP 1 987 708, U.S. Patent No. 8,821,778 B2) der Wandler garantiert eine homogene Wärmeverteilung im Modul sowie eine hervorragende Beständigkeit gegenüber Umweltbelastungen wie Schock, Vibration und Feuchte. Herausragendes Merkmal dieser Wandler ist die Ausführung in Schutzklasse IP65 und somit die Einhaltung der EN 60 068-2-1/2-2/2-11/2-14/2-30. Die Geräte sind leerlauffest und durch primär- und sekundärseitige Leistungsbegrenzung kurzschlusssicher. Über einen Remote Control Eingang lassen sich die Wandler in einen Strom sparenden Stand-By Betrieb versetzen. Die wartungsfreien Wandler sind für den Einsatz in der Bahntechnik nach EN 50 155 / 50121-3-2 / 45 545-2 geprüft und erfüllen die Niederspannungsrichtlinie. Die Geräte sind in SMD-Technologie mechanisch und elektrisch robust aufgebaut und unterliegen einer automatischen Einzelstückprüfung. Die Kühlung erfolgt durch freie Konvektion.
