Die primärgetakteten DC/DC-Wandler mit 400 Watt von MTM Power® wurden speziell für den Einsatz in der Fahrzeugtechnik entwickelt und arbeiten nach dem Gegentaktprinzip. Hierbei wird die Eingangsgleichspannung durch zwei im Gegentakt arbeitende Transistoren mit einer Frequenz von ca. 60 kHz zerhackt. Mit Hilfe eines Transformators und einer sekundärseitigen Längsdrossel wird eine galvanisch getrennte Ausgangsspannung (12 V oder 24 V) erzeugt, die durch eine Pulsweitenmodulation nach dem "Current Mode"-Prinzip geregelt wird. Die Serie PCMD400W ist mit den Eingangsspannungen 36 VDC, 72 VDC, 80 VDC und 110 VDC erhältlich und ihr Anschluss erfolgt über Schraubklemmen. Die Abmessungen der Geräte im Aluminiumgehäuse betragen 150 mm x 86 mm x 55 mm (Länge x Breite x Höhe), so dass die Serie PCMD400W mit ihrer kompakten Bauform auch platzkritische Applikationen ermöglicht. Die Geräte sind leerlauffest, durch primär- und sekundärseitige Leistungsbegrenzung kurzschlusssicher und können optional für den Einsatz in der Bahntechnik gefertigt werden. Die wartungsfreien Wandler sind vakuumvergossen, für den Einsatz in Geräten der Schutzklasse II vorbereitet und erfüllen die Niederspannungsrichtlinie. Sie sind in SMD-Technologie mechanisch und elektrisch robust aufgebaut und unterliegen einer automatischen Einzelstückprüfung. Zum ungestörten Betrieb der Geräte ist es notwendig, die Montage auf einer wärmeableitenden Fläche vorzunehmen.
