The scientific conference is held every two years in different places around the world with more than 80 speakers from leading research institutes to attend and contribute to presentations and scientific discussions. The conference series has become recognized as the principal worldwide gathering of electrical contacts scientists and engineers giving a forum for the presentation of research on contact phenomena, developments in technologies and advancement in manufacture of a whole range of connective devices.
In depth about connection technology and contacts
The presentations range from basic lectures on electrical contact and connection technology to the simulation of arcing phenomena and high-speed data transmission. This year’s edition will focus on contact materials (contact design and switching behavior), switching of high DC loads (e.g. automotive, PV grids and charging technology), arc fault detection and protection concepts, high power data transmission, simulations (arcing, contact systems, relay magnetics, etc.) and new technologies.
Meet the Stäubli specialists
On June 10, in the course of the conference program, the specialists of Stäubli Electrical Connectors will address the topic of “Recommendations for Testing the Short Circuit Behaviour of Power Plug-In Connectors” together with Prof. Steffen Großmann, former chair holder of the professorship for high voltage and high current technology at the Technische Universitäty Dresden and further experts of the German academic research and educational institution.
Furthermore, throughout the five days of the conference, the Stäubli Electrical Connectors digital booth will be open for the conference participants, to meet the Stäubli specialists in exciting interviews and live chats to gain insights on special topics and on the company as an employer. Visitors will be able to learn more on the product solutions and applications with the unique MULTILAM contact technology, that features unmatched electrical and mechanical properties. Scoring with excellent performance due to first-rate and constant current-carrying capacity as well as minimal transition resistance, and because of its sophisticated manufacturing technique with specially formed and resilient contact elements, it is suited for long-lasting operation. Its design guarantees extremely durable and reliable electrical contacts for virtually unlimited applications.
Forward thinking research and development
Avid curiosity, solid engineering profession and technical expertise have always been part of the foundation of Stäubli's product solution and the customer specific developments. In the research and development work at Stäubli the engineering work goes beyond material analysis, mechanical design and manufacturing expertise to find the best fitting and cost-efficient solution for the customers’ requirements.
“We are always on the hunt for new technologies and upcoming techniques and therefore, we actively network with technical universities and international organizations to integrate all impulses in our innovation management” explains Tom Kufner, Head of Research and Development at Stäubli Electrcial Connectors. “We are eager to make knowledge work and highly appreciate the exchange at the ICEC. Its long history has significantly contributed to the understanding of contact technology and contact physics and has also supported international cooperation.”
