mycon has developed and supplied a simple application of the previously used TubeMaster process for a pipe manufacturer especially for the removal of light pulling media on inner and outer pipe surfaces. In addition, the customer of mycon also received a blasting device for cooling and lubrication in saw cuts for the cutting of the pipes. This blasting device works with liquid CO2. The cleaning process for internal and external pipe cleaning works with compressed air and dry snow. The dry snow is generated from liquid CO2 directly in a special jet of the IceMaster series of mycon.
For these developments, which were used by the pipe manufacturer, the customer himself had applied for patents on his behalf, without consulting mycon. On the other hand, mycon had resisted.
Both sides have now agreed after a long negotiation time that mycon for free has an unrestricted right of use in these patent applications. These systems are now also available to mycon customers worldwide. In this agreement, mycon sees considerable advantages by saving its own patent costs. In addition, this avoids a longer legal dispute with a long-term customer.
Advantages of the IceMaster process
The mycon-IceMaster systems are effective, cost-effective and can be fully automated. Added to this is a low consume CO2 and compressed air. The use of an IceMaster snow blasting system from mycon also offers ecological advantages. Due to the use of compressed air and dry particles, there are no pollutant residues, such as sewage or jet granules. The dry particles are generated in the IceMaster's jet gun during operation. Therefore, the storage problems associated with the use of dry ice pellets are also eliminated here. IceMaster is suitable for a wide range of applications in industrial cleaning, e.g. for the removal of residues such as ambient pollution, oil, grease and dusts from all kinds of surfaces. Both methods are, however, limited by the use of dry ice / dry snow and can not be used for all requirements.
Development of further methods for pipe cleaning and coating
Kipp Umwelttechnik, the sister company of mycon, is working with the University of Paderborn on a new process. This is promoted within the framework of the ZIM-program (Zentrales Innovationsprogramm Mittelstand). With this method, the inside and outside surfaces of pipes can be cleaned fully automatically in a continuous process, even from rigid residues. This system can also clean internal pipe surfaces of small-sized pipes with long lengths and is therefore expected to be a stand-alone on the world market. Kipp Umwelttechnik is already in a position to carry out automated tests for potential customers of pipe testing on a test facility. With an application of the system, pipes can also be coated inside and / or outside. Kipp Umwelttechnik expects to complete the plant in autumn 2018 for coating.
Kipp Umwelttechnik and mycon, together with the already available mycon systems as well as with the new developments of Kipp Umwelttechnik GmbH, offer completely new possibilities for the following areas:
• Cleaning of stainless steel pipes inside and outside as well as coating inside,
• Cleaning of pipes before galvanizing from outside,
• Cleaning and coating of other pipes both inside and outside,
• Cleaning and coating of profiles,
• Cleaning and coating of bars,
• Cleaning and coating of tapes,
• Cleaning and coating of wires,
• Cleaning of greased wire,
• ropes for testing and re-greasing.
Kipp Umwelttechnik and mycon are convinced that further applications will arise for the aforementioned processes.
