As simple as LEGO®
ODU-MAC is one of the most user-friendly products on the market - whether that be in medical, measurement or testing technology, military and security technology, energy and automotive systems or industrial electronics. "In these areas, connector systems must fulfill many different challenges. When conducting market research, the developers of such systems are confronted with an incredible diversity of solutions. They have to sift through catalogues, get in touch with many different manufacturers, compare specifications and cleanly integrate interfaces into their own systems. "Our ODU-MAC drastically simplifies this process. It works as simply and ingeniously as LEGO®." Thanks to a flexible modular construction customers are able to freely select and combine elements for signals, power voltage, BUS transmission, fibre optics, coaxial and triaxial modules and pneumatic and hydraulic connections as simply as selecting bricks from a building set. "This allows users to create an effective and capable connection with unparalleled functionality, thus avoiding the potential tangled cables." ODU-MAC is available in two basic types: the docking model with aluminium frame or the housing solution for manual operation. The docking model is used predominantly with automated testing bays and stands, but it can also be used in interchangeable user modules, e.g. switch cabinet drawers. The housing solution can be used at all interface points where one or more cables are connected with the device.
Compact and secure
Most of ODU-MAC modules are based on reliable ODU SPRINGTAC contacts with springwire technology. This ensures the highest level of contact stability even under increased vibration, e.g. on motor test stands. Furthermore, the technology also allows a higher number of mating cycles. The system guarantees up to 100,000 cycles when used with stable transfer resistances, such as on testing bays. "Customer reports show that ODU-MAC with the aluminium docking frame has in some instances been in operation for over 1 million mating cycles without demonstrating any wear," said Bernhard Säckl. The very compact structure of the contacts and extremely space-saving and simple one-clip technology used in the modules has allowed us to produce the smallest modular connector system available on the market. As many as 600 signal contacts can be installed on a contact area of 30 x 152 mm when using the smallest module. All other modules are also especially designed for the space-saving design.
The highest development standards
Of course, the specialists at the independent medium-sized company will continue to develop the ODU-MAC product range further. "We are continuously incorporating new demands resulting from ongoing improvements in data technology into our new module designs. This is both necessary and understandable, in order to guarantee connector systems that satisfy the highest demands regarding reliability and quality even under difficult operating conditions. This allows ODU-MAC to remain the best modular connector system on the international market."
