Grid congestion as a challenge
The rising fraction of renewable energy from volatile sources poses special requirements. To avoid congestion in the grid, demand side management has to be introduced. Thus in phases of high throughput, demand could be stimulated by lowering the current selling price, which would trigger the storage of energy or temporarily activate variable loads in the household. This requires real-time processing of load and price signals between multiple providers, users and devices.
Dynamic energy billing to enable the business case
Based on 15 years of expertise on real-time charging and billing as well as dynamic policy management, Orga Systems has set up a billing system to cope with grid congestion requirements. Within SHAPE, this dynamic energy billing system will be integrated in a delivery platform for home automation service, enabling the following features:
- Dynamic pricing for volatile renewable energy, configurable by a centralized rating engine
- Support for value added services like visualization of consumption, cost and prices with forecast values and monthly billing
- Support of standard interfaces for easy integration in meter data management and utility CIS systems.
With its real time expertise, Orga Systems will help to enable the decrease of consumption and CO2 emissions in the range of 10 % for electrical power and 30 % for heat.
