From 24 to 26 September, it's that time of the year again: FACHPACK is calling, and the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg will be transformed into a hotspot for innovation, technological trends and networking. On an area of around 1,400m², Packaging Valley Germany e.V. brings together 27 top companies in the industry and demonstrates the impressive innovative strength and diversity of its members.

Diversity connects: As an industry compass, source of inspiration and one of the most important trade fairs in the packaging industry, FACHPACK is an indispensable part of Packaging Valley. The trade fair will focus on packaging trends and developments in the packaging industry, including the key topics, sustainability, technology and processes. This is where the European packaging market meets and brings together the industry players to collectively provide fresh impetus and groundbreaking innovations. This year, Packaging Valley will be presenting itself with an impressive joint stand of around 1,400 square metres, where 27 co-exhibitors will present their technologies and forward-looking solutions and provide answers to the most pressing global questions facing the packaging industry. True to the slogan of FACHPACK "We make the future", the Packaging Valley joint stand unites its’ diverse network and shows how the combined power of a cluster can become an engine for progress and innovation.

Visitors can look forward to a wide range of exhibits and are invited to experience packaging trends up close, to engage in direct and P2P conversation with experts and be inspired by the diversity and excellence of the member companies.

From state-of-the-art packaging machines to intelligent automation solutions and sustainable packaging concepts: visitors will have access to comprehensive insights into the diversity of the packaging process chain for industrial and consumer goods. Experience the range of technologies for the pharmaceutical, food and non-food industries that are being developed in Packaging Valley, all in one place.

APS Tech Group GmbH from Ellwangen is pleased to present the new P-Series of Doosan robots for intelligent palletizing. With a long reach, fast and stable performance, it enables versatile pattern processing up to 30 kg. Highest standards guarantee future-proofed special solutions in measurement technology, robotics and automation – pioneers in the packaging industry through tailor-made and flexible software.

Visitors can explore solutions from the field of motion control through application-specific hardware and software packages provided by Bucher Automation. Using a delta robot, implementation of complex kinematics is demonstrated. A variety of software and cloud solutions offer decisive competitive advantages: The basis is JetSym, a convenient and powerful development environment for machines. With ProData, Bucher Automation offers a cloud solution for uninterrupted and efficient production, and with the Device Dashboard, users have a service website at their disposal for a quick and easy first-level board.

ECOSPHERE® GmbH + Co. KG presents its digital integration platform and probably the smallest cartoner in the world. The platform shows how easy it is to implement an individual automation solution with the ECOmodules. The RT8 cartoning module from Epple Components, which is touted as the smallest cartoner on the market at around 1 m², is ideal for integration into packaging systems and lines. In the trade fair application, up to 25 boxes per minute are unfolded, filled with a Universal Robots UR3 and sealed.

With innovative connection technology in premium quality, EISELE GmbH supports the optimization of packaging processes. The focus is on the multiple- and multi-media couplings of the MULTILINE as optimal solutions for the packaging industry. Functional groups on packaging machines can be connected to this modular system, combining compressed air, vacuum, gases, cooling water, liquids, electronics and electrics in a coupling body. Eisele will also be presenting the new CLEANLINE Hygienic Connector for the hygiene-sensitive packaging sector.

As a safety specialist, EUCHNER GmbH + Co. KG ensures reliable protection of people, machines and products at every step along the packaging process. The wide range of security solutions can be easily integrated into modular systems. At FACHPACK, EUCHNER will be presenting its latest innovation – the EKS2 electronic key system. The key system protects processes from unauthorized access and the latest generation is particularly easy to implement and operate.

Harro Höfliger Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH specializes in customer-oriented process solutions and production machines for pharmaceutical and medical applications as well as market-oriented consumer products. In addition to innovative machine platforms and packaging systems, the company's core competencies include tailor-made dosing for inhalation technology, solutions for product assembly and the processing of web materials.

Industrial excellence can be found at HEITEC AG. Groundbreaking solutions for digital transformation will be presented. With a focus on automation, digitalization and plant engineering, the company sets standards in industrial technologies. Visitors can expect to experience innovative technology that increases efficiency and quality. HEITEC's expertise in digital engineering and the smart factory offers a competitive advantage in a networked world: from planning to holistic automation solutions founded in Industry 4.0 for a wide variety of industries.

Three technological highlights await visitors to HERMA GmbH: With the new robot-supported labeling cell 211 HC RC, non-stable and irregularly shaped products such as pens, syringes and cartridges, as well as small batch sizes can now be labeled economically automatically. With the 132M HC wrap-around labeller, HERMA will demonstrate how special film labels can be variably printed with a UV laser – just by changing the colour. And with the HERMA eco labeller, which is being presented for the first time worldwide, an economical entry into leading labeling technology is being redefined.

Since 1980, the innovative technology and the outstanding quality of the control systems of HPF Hans P. Friedrich Elektronik GmbH have successfully positioned themselves among pharmaceutical, food and cosmetics companies worldwide. The reliable control and monitoring of contents and packaging materials make the quality of the contents and packaging visible and thus make a significant contribution to ensuring quality standards. The demanding requirements of the pharmaceutical industry, such as GMP and EMC guidelines, as well as the specifications of the FDA (CFR 21 Part 11) and the requirement for complete validation are met with HPF systems.

Industrial marking technology is their specialty: At the booth of Ingenieurbüro Lawrenov OHG get to introduced to the SMARTJET packaging printer FLEX 324. This is a CMYK colour printer based on memjet Duraflex printing technology for all kinds of packaging and packaging materials. FLEX is SMARTJET's digital printer range for direct printing on packaging. Each printer is designed to combine the best printing technology available on the market with an extremely powerful industry platform and software that can effectively support the user in their day-to-day operations.

Ishida GmbH will be showcasing efficient machines for fully automatic packaging and quality control, including some newly developed systems. A highlight is the CCW-AS multihead weigher, which processes even challenging products with high performance. The QX-500 tray sealer is the right choice for large-scale production, all the while taking up little space and energy. In addition, the manufacturer underlines its competence in the field of quality assurance. Several X-ray inspection systems and a new series of checkweighers will be demonstrated.

You can explore efficient and error-free format changeovers at Lenord+Bauer . The battery-free, digital position indicator SeGMo-Assist simplifies manual adjustment processes. It can be combined with the GEL SEROT external rotary sensor, which is mounted in hard-to-reach locations, providing for more ergonomic operation of the system. In addition, new developments from the SeGMo-Positioning series will be shown, e.g. the GEL 6109 actuator, which is now also available with an integrated fieldbus interface for standalone use.

Lenze Vertrieb GmbH is a leading automation specialist and focuses on the design of efficient and sustainable production and material flow processes. The company accompanies its customers from the mechanical and plant engineering sector in digitalization and helps them to reduce costs, optimize capacity utilization and life cycles of plants and reduce their energy consumption. Lenze's portfolio includes high-quality mechatronic solutions, high-performance hardware and software systems as well as digital services.

As an international sensor expert in automation technology, Leuze electronic GmbH + Co. KG has one of the largest portfolios of robust and hygienic sensors in stainless steel housings for all process steps in food packaging. The predominant portfolio for packaging processes includes photoelectric sensors, reflection and through-beam sensors as well as forked photoelectric sensors and inductive sensors. For the identification of 1D or 2D codes, Leuze offers code readers in stainless steel housings.

Murrplastik Systemtechnik GmbH will be presenting two high-quality and efficient laser marking systems. These systems have been specially developed to meet the high demands of the industry; easy to use and free of expensive consumables, the devices actively contribute to economic and ecological sustainability. The MP-LM 3 laser marking system is characterized by providing the best cost efficiency. The latest mp-LM 1M model is as compact as it is mobile with a dead weight of only 7.5 kg.

As a specialist for automated inspection systems, OCTUM GmbH will present a direct comparison between rule-based image processing and artificial intelligence. The flanging of injection vials is recorded with cameras from four perspectives and then evaluated in parallel using two software solutions (OCTUMISEr and OCvis). This creates a direct comparison of both technologies based on the same images, where the differences can be seen with the naked eye.

OMRON will present its solutions in lineside replenishment and inspection. Using a pallet labeling solution with a collaborative robot, OMRON will demonstrate live how flexibility, efficiency and safety can be increased in production. In addition, the company will present a lid inspection solution with machine vision that has been specially developed to meet the strict industry standards in the pharmaceutical sector and increase product safety. In addition, interested parties can find out about the latest developments in the field of digital watermarking as well as the latest updates to OMRON's FH Vision system and FHV7 smart camera.

Together with its customers, OPTIMA packaging group GmbH creates solutions that are ahead of their time and offer real added value, whether providing special flexibility such as the new OPTIMA Moduline Smart or by special attention to the topic of sustainability with Fiber Based Solutions. Through long-term, close cooperation with customers, high-performance services and extensive know-how, they are an excellent partner for the greatest possible safety in production. Optima will be demonstrating this at FACHPACK with exciting live demos and simulations by filling and dosing liquids and powders, but also in particular by the experts on site.

As a global provider of safe automation technology, Pilz GmbH + Co. KG offers solutions for safety and security: sensors, controls, operating elements and diagnostics as well as training and services. Highlights at FACHPACK: the safe safety door interlocks PSENmlock mini for space-saving installation and PSENslock 2 for series connection in harsh environments. In addition, Pilz will be presenting TÜV-SÜD's certified secure monitoring of cardboard feed and its identification and access management I.A.M.

At the Rockwell Automation GmbH booth, visitors will learn how packaging machine manufacturers can be supported on their way to intelligent manufacturing. Rockwell Automation helps you plan, test, design, operate, and maintain highly flexible and adaptable packaging solutions that meet market demands. With their holistic solutions and support at every stage of the technology lifecycle, they help manufacturers optimize production, empower employees, develop resilience, promote sustainability, and accelerate digital transformation.

Schreyer Sondermaschinen GmbH will be presenting a new generation of horizontal flow wrappers for the frozen food sector as well as a fully operable digital twin of another packaging machine (bundle packer/container stretcher). Counteracting the shortage of skilled workers and climate change with digitization in an innovative and overall sustainable concept, something which unites all machines from Schreyer. They all share the same drive, the same operating concept and a durable, hygienic design.

Products and systems from SEW-EURODRIVE are used everywhere. Whether in the food or metalworking industry, opting for drive technology "made by SEW-EURODRIVE" means security for function and investment. For packaging machines, SEW-EURODIVE offers its StarterSET: precisely coordinated automation packages, like a model kit. The automation of a vertical flow-wrapping machine is just as much a focus at FACHPACK as the topic of CO2 reduction.

The automation specialist SMC Germany GmbH will present its broad, state-of-the-art solution portfolio for the packaging industry. Highlights include the electric drives of the EQ series in piston rod and slide versions with integrated controller. They score points with high acceleration (up to 10,000 mm/s²) and horizontal payload (up to 100 kg) as well as simple control and I/O connection. On the new modular multiple connection plate of the JSY1000-E series for valves, ejectors and pressure sensors, SMC offers a compact system solution with fieldbus connection. Visitors can also get to know the air management system, which has been supplemented by a condensation sensor with IO-Link connection.

With the LB-2-200 labeler, STAKO GmbH Maschinenbau will be showing a universal labeling machine, which is designed as a basic version for 2 sides of labeling. Optionally, round bottles and special labels can be processed. STAKO integrates all commercially available label dispensers, printers and camera systems according to customer requirements. The company also develops and produces transport systems and feeding equipment for the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and chemical industries.

There is even more potential in the further developed successful machine type KA40 from the company. SVZ Maschinenbau GmbH. The extremely compact erecting and gluing machine for boxes and trays now achieves higher outputs and shines with fast format changeovers. SVZ also implements tailor-made solutions and a high degree of flexibility in automated end-of-line packaging with various robot systems. A packing station with a "collaborating robot" (cobot) will be shown. The robot cell can also be used for other handling tasks thanks to simple peripheral modifications.

WIPOTEC-OCS GmbH stands for high-performance, process- and customer-oriented weighing and inspection solutions. The company will be showcasing a large portfolio of machines for Track & Trace, Mark & Verify, and dynamic weighing technology for the mail and logistics industries. Load cells operate in conjunction with planar technology, the latest transport magnetic levitation system. Another new feature is the TQS machine with piezo inkjet printing technology: large-format carton printing and the simplest layout change, fully integrated and with optical inspection in one system. "Ready for 2D Codes in Retail." The SC-S 5020 Big Berta, a dual-beam X-ray machine for the detection of contaminants of glass-in-glass or cans, is impressive: indispensable for canning producers.

Visitors to the ZEBRA Engineering GmbH booth can look forward to innovative and customized automation solutions. The service provider and manufacturer in the fields of automation, application and robotics, which is also a specialized partner for the entire B&R product range, will use the trade fair to present itself to an international audience and present its own products for assembly, testing and packaging systems: highly efficient and variable product transport with the greatest possible degree of freedom, a gripper that can be flexibly positioned and robotics suitable for industrial use.

The Packaging Valley Germany e.V. association, founded in Schwäbisch Hall in 2007, is the cluster and spokesperson of the packaging industry. It is the result of a merger of the Packaging Valley Germany and Packaging Excellence Region Stuttgart clusters. It connects over 100 companies with numerous experts from the packaging industry. These include manufacturers of packaging systems and machines, providers of software and automation solutions, manufacturers of components, providers of services related to the packaging industry and public institutions.
The companies in Packaging Valley offer the market the best technologies in the field of packaging machines. With an export share of over 80%, the technological diversity from Packaging Valley is present all around the world. International market leaders from the food, beverages, confectionery, pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors are among its customers.
Packaging Valley Germany e.V. is based in Waiblingen, with another office in Schwäbisch Hall. The majority of the companies are located in the southwest, with a focus on the Stuttgart and Hohenlohe regions.
