Infektionen nach Malware-Gruppen:
Knapp 77% aller Infektionen wurden von Trojanischen Pferden verursacht. Immer öfter werden Exploit Kits, wie beispielsweise Black Hole, zum Ausnutzen von Systemanfälligkeiten eingesetzt, um Computer automatisch zu kompromittieren. Die zweithäufigsten Infektionen verursachten Viren mit 8%, knapp gefolgt von Würmern mit ca. 6%.

Infektionen im Ländervergleich:
Die durchschnittliche Anzahl der von Malware infizierten PCs weltweit betrug im Jahr 2012 32%. China übernimmt mit 55% die Spitze der Länder mit den meisten infizierten PCs, dicht gefolgt von Südkorea (54%). Diese zwei Länder sind die einzigen, die über der 50-Prozent-Marke liegen. Den dritten Platz der Länder mit den meisten kompromittierten Rechnern belegt Taiwan (42%).

Die Liste der Länder mit den wenigsten Infektionen wird mit 20,25% von Schweden angeführt. Fast gleichwenig Infektionen sind auch auf Rechnern in der Schweiz (20,35%) entdeckt worden. Die drittwenigsten verseuchten Rechner stehen derzeit in Norwegen (21%). In Deutschland waren im zweiten Quartal 2012 ca. 24% aller Computer mit Malware befallen.
