Medium-sized enterprises often have no reliable backup strategy
"In particular medium-sized companies which operate their own in-house IT solutions will profit from the new solution, because they are often only inadequately protected against data loss," says Khaled Chaar, Managing Director Business Strategy at Pironet NDH. For example, in many cases these companies operate their backup and productive systems at the same location, only create backup copies at irregular intervals, or data cannot be re-imported within a reasonable time.
This is problematic because the Principles of Data Access and Verifiability of Digital Documents (GDPdU) require all tax-relevant documents to be archived with a complete audit trail. Data loss or data failure over an extended period of time would also result in significant financial and commercial damage.
Permanent backup of all data
With "Backup as a Service", Pironet NDH therefore now offers regular backup of corporate data in its Business Cloud. This solution saves all digital information - in other words both data from standard applications, such as an ERP system, and also information from customised corporate applications. A prerequisite for this is the use of NetApp storage technologies at the corporate location. In the future, Pironet NDH also intends to offer Cloud Backup for other IT environments.
The data is backed up incrementally, i.e. only data which has been changed or created since the last data backup is transferred. Backup usually takes place on a daily basis. The Cloud Computing specialist monitors the backup process constantly and alerts its customers automatically if scheduled backups are not performed. The companies also receive a monthly report on the backup cycles implemented and the quantities of data transferred.
