In order to make the processes more efficient and to be able to meet the increased market requirements, Krämer decided in the year 2011 towards an automated intralogistics system by psb. In project 1, an automated small parts warehouse (10 aisles) with connected workstations provides for mostly »goods to man« order picking procedures.
During the project implementation, in 2011/12, the wish arose to store the entire supply goods in an automated pallet warehouse, in addition to the obtained space by the automated small parts warehouse with 110,000 locations. In project 2, a pallet warehouse with 16,500 locations is presently being installed in a new building. Six AS/RS stacker cranes type psb maxloader are operated in double-deep storage aisles. The facilities are connected by a psb conveyor system, utilizing pallet conveyors and other elements, as turn tables and test stations for pallets. Up to 150 pallets can be stored in and out per hour. The warehouse area and the replenishment strategies are organized by psb selektron WMS and MFR.
By ordering the pallet warehouse already during the commissioning phase of the small parts warehouse, Krämer values psb’s performance and commitment. The customer’s requirements in project 1 were implemented, and all expectations were fully met.
For psb, the order for project 2 has been a great sign of confidence. Furthermore, it is a good example for establishing long-term customer-supplier relationships.
In the summer of 2013, when operations will start in new pallet warehouse, all external storage facilities can be closed down, thus allowing for a much more effective supply organization and most efficient overall processes.
