Durch die Bildvorverarbeitung im FPGA der Kamera wird die Abhängigkeit zu spezialisierten Framegrabbern oder anderen Hardwarebeschleunigern gelöst. Ein weiterer Vorteil der Bildvorverarbeitung in der Kamera ist die drastische Reduzierung der CPU Last. Daraus ergeben sich schnellere Visionsysteme, d.h. höhere Bandbreiten sind möglich, oder mehr Rechenzeit, um im gleichen Zeitraum komplexere Algorithmen für ein besseres Endresultat implementieren zu können.
Die Bildvorverarbeitungs-Hardware in der Kamera basiert auf der FPGA-Technologie. Das FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) in der Kamera kann mit diversen Bildvorverarbeitungsoperatoren flexibel umprogrammiert werden, womit eine Bildvorverarbeitung in Echtzeit mit nahezu „Null“ Latenzzeit erreicht wird. FPGA-Tools und Programmierkenntnisse sind keine Voraussetzung für eine erfolgreiche Arbeit mit dieser Kamera.
Photonfocus hat mit dem Pixel Professor Lab eine graphische Benutzeroberfläche (GUI) entwickelt, die es Ihnen ermöglicht, Bildvorverarbeitungs-Operatoren mit nur ein paar Mausklicks auf dem Computer einzustellen und auf die Kamera zu übertragen. Das Pixel Professor Lab wird kostenlos mit der Pixel Professor Kamera geliefert.
