Talente fördern und Nachwuchskräfte für das Fachgebiet Informatik gewinnen – so lautet die Devise: Der Bundeswettbewerb Informatik spricht junge Talente auf hohem Niveau an. Gefragt sind Schüler, Auszubildende, Wehrdienst- oder Zivildienstleistende bis 21 Jahre, die sich – fasziniert von der Welt der Informatik – über ein Jahr lang den anspruchsvollen Aufgaben stellen wollen. Erwartet werden rund 1.000 Teilnehmer. Beim Einstiegswettbewerb Informatik-Biber werden die Aufgaben von Schülern der Jahrgangsstufen 5 bis 13 während des Unterrichts direkt am Computer gelöst. Bei diesem Contest, der eine Woche lang im November stattfindet, werden bundesweit etwa 100.000 Wettstreiter erwartet.
Bei den Maßnahmen setzte rheinfaktor auf einen Mix aus Basispresseinformationen, Interviews mit ehemaligen Teilnehmern und Gewinnern, die ihren beruflichen Erfolg in der Sparte Informatik gefunden haben, sowie einer Kooperation mit der Jugendpresse Deutschland e.V. Über deren Newsletter wurde eine eigens gestaltete Pressemappe für Schülerzeitungsredaktionen zum Download angeboten. Außerdem wird es ein Gewinnspiel auf der Homepage von Geolino geben sowie speziell für den Wettstreit Informatik-Biber im November ein Event mit fünf ausgewählten Schulen, bei dem Kinder und Jugendliche ihre Zukunftsideen aufschreiben können.
