Alaska TV installs Riedel Artist intercom

(PresseBox) (Madrid/Wuppertal, )
Alaska TV, a Spanish broadcast provider, equipped its production facility in Madrid with a Riedel Artist digital intercom matrix system. Riedel Communications, one of the leading manufacturers of intercom, fiber and radio technology, provided an Artist system including an Artist 64 mainframe that also integrates their existing Altair beltpack system. The project was handled by the Madrid based distributor and system integrator Crosspoint S.A.L., Riedel's official partner in Spain for the broadcast market.

At the heart of the intercom installation is a Riedel Artist 64 matrix mainframe. It offers connections to a vast number of signals including MADI, analog and digital audio, as well as GPIO via additional client cards. Up to 128 mainframes can be connected via a redundant optical fiber ring to form a single large, full summing, nonblocking distributed matrix with up to 1,024 ports. Redundant CPUs provide maximum reliability.

Control panels are connected digitally via CAT-5 or coax cabling. Eight Artist 1000 series rackmount and desktop control panels provide digital broadcast quality audio within the entire communications infrastructure. The panels feature alphanumeric LED display keys with eight digits for the clear labeling of destinations and excellent readability under all lighting conditions. Individual volume controls for each key expand the flexibility even further. Additional AIO-108 G2 audio I/O cards provide interfacing to analog audio sources.

A Riedel IF-2104 interface seamlessly integrates Alaska TV's preexisting Altair beltpack system into the intercom matrix. The IF interface converts four partyline channels to transformer balanced audio inputs and outputs (4wire).
