Rohde & Schwarz launches high-flexibility EMI test receivers at EMV2025 paving the way for optimized investments

EMV 2025

(PresseBox) (Munich, )
The new EMI test receivers R&S EPL1001 up to 1 GHz and R&S EPL1007 up to 7.125 GHz offer engineers a flexible and cost-effective solution for EMI measurements. Their expandable features support optimized and secured investments, as additional options can be integrated at any time as needed. Depending on the configuration, these receivers can be used for measurements during the development phase, certification preparation and final testing to ensure compliance with latest EMI standards.

The new test receivers are designed to meet a broad range of EMC measurement requirements, with a focus on flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and precision. Engineers can start with a basic model that fits their current needs and budget. As requirements grow, the devices can be easily upgraded with advanced features. The basic versions of the test receivers include EMI bandwidth (CISPR 16-1-1, DO-160 and MIL-STD-461) and detectors (CISPR 16-1-1), RF input protection and automatic adaptable attenuation in 1 dB steps to easily handle strong signals. Optional preselection improves the measurement of broadband signals and short pulses. The preamplifier included in the preselection option enables the measurement of small signals. Adding option EPL1-B1611 results in full CISPR 16-1-1 compliant EMI test receivers allowing the certification of the equipment under test.

Time Domain Scan (TDS) makes it possible to capture entire CISPR bands A or B in a single shot and to measure above CISPR band B in 20 MHz steps using CISPR band associated resolution bandwidths. This saves valuable test time and enhances intermittent emission detection. In-depth analysis is provided by functions such as spectrogram, zero span and bar graph display. Additional upgrade options include real-time spectrogram, IF analysis and 4-channel click rate analysis. Battery and DC power operation allow testing in various environments without being tied to a power outlet. As the test receivers are versatile and offer functions beyond EMI measurements, such as an integrated spectrum analyzer and an optional signal generator including tracking generator function, they are reducing the necessity for extra equipment.

The R&S EPL1001 and R&S EPL1007 are designed for both EMC test engineers and R&D engineers. EMC test engineers need precise, fast and standard-compliant measurements to ensure devices meet regulatory standards. R&D engineers need detailed signal analyses for troubleshooting and continuous emission monitoring and user-friendly interfaces during development.

With the R&S EPL1001 and the R&S EPL1007 Rohde & Schwarz is extending its EPL EMI test receiver family, which began with the R&S EPL1000 launched in 2023. The new models can be ordered from Q2 2025 on and will be shown at EMV 2025 in Stuttgart from March 25 to 27 at booth 615.
