SAGA D.C. GmbH today released Version 1.4 of the Virtual Data Federation Server, SAGA.M31 – Galaxy –.
New Features implemented are:
- Complex Container Requests
which implements a requests chain where output fields of one requests can be used as input fields of another requests inside of a single Container. This enables the user to build more complex requests against data sources of different media like SQL, Directory Services or 3270 Transactions.
- Deployment Tool
this new feature enables Developers or Administrators of SAGA.M31 – Galaxy – to deploy tested and approved Containers to the production Server(s). This will reduce the risk of errors in creating new Containers or Requests after a new application is ready for production.
All Enhancements are only available in the commercial Version of SAGA.M31 – Galaxy – the “Professional Edition”. Customers with an existing Maintenance contract will receive Version 1.4 automatically via the established distribution channel either as a Download or a CD Image.
The Virtual Data Federation Server SAGA.M31 – Galaxy – is a Middleware Solution that enables organizations to process data from different sources, like SQL, Directory Servers or 3270 Transactions, by using a simple XML or Web Service. Virtualization is done by a container that provides a single view for the calling application. Below this view, requests are separated depending on the underlying service. A main benefit is the simplification of data access and the combination of different data sources. In terms of SOA, SAGA.M31 – Galaxy – provides a Data Service. To implement this into existing application a Plugin for the Eclipse IDE is part of the product. To integrate a data Web Service takes only minutes.
Current customers say that they like the simple, secure and reliable implementation of SAGA.M31 – Galaxy –. The commercial version “Professional Edition” provides a ROI already after few months, depending on the number of Services that are done through SAGA.M31 – Galaxy –.
There is also a free version named “Limited Edition” or “Developer Edition” that allows a risk free implementation of XML or Web Service based Data processing. Limitation is only done on the number of concurrent container and Features.
SAGA.M31 – Galaxy – is used as an application under any J2EE compliant Container like Apache Jakarta Tomcat or IBM WebSphere AS.
