In den vergangenen 3,5 Jahren war Wassink als Leiter der Internen & Externen Kommunikation beim europaweit tätigen Telekommunikationsanbieter COLT Telecom in Frankfurt tätig. Hier steuerte er die Pressearbeit der deutschen Landesgesellschaft und war zudem für den Ausbau der Internen Kommunikation zuständig.
Vor seiner Zeit bei COLT arbeitete Wassink als PR-Senior-Berater und Teamleiter in der Kölner PR-Agentur denkfabrik, wo er die PR-Budgets diverser Kunden aus der IT- und Telekommunikationsbranche betreute. Zudem sammelte er journalistische Erfahrungen als Journalist beim IT-Wirtschaftsmagazin iCONOMY.
Wassink ist Mitglied des Bundesverbandes deutscher Pressesprecher (BdP) und im Vorsitz der Fachgruppe Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologie aktiv.
Er studierte Philosophie, Komparatistik und Germanistik in Bonn und Paris und hat zudem eine Ausbildung zum DAPR (Deutsche Akademie für Public Relations)-geprüften PR-Berater am „PR-Kolleg – Institut für Kommunikationsmanagement der University of Management & Communication (UMC)“ in Potsdam absolviert.
