Of the 150,000 SAP community members in the Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) region, more than 95 percent of those members are from customer or partner organizations outside of SAP. More than 50 percent of those community members are based in China and Japan, with 35,000-plus people regularly accessing the community sites from each region. In China alone, SDN membership has grown by 21 percent and BPX community membership has grown by 33 percent over the last six months.
The Chinese-language community sites officially go live today and provide users the ability to discuss best practices, share business process experiences, locate answers to questions and communicate with peers, partner contacts and SAP in their areas of focus. Through Chinese-language homepages on each of the three community sites, users can access discussion forums and key documents in their native language. Following this successful launch, SAP plans to roll out a Japanese-language site and use the experience to evaluate additional local-language communities.
SAP also announced today that the recently launched SAP EcoHub (see October 14, 2008 press release, titled "SAP Launches SAP EcoHub -- A
Community-Powered Solution Marketplace") offers a feature to easily find partner offerings relevant to customers in the Asia Pacific Japan region. Solutions available for APJ customers are offerings from SAP partners such as Adobe Systems, Open Text, Redwood and Triple Point Technology, among others.
SAP EcoHub (http://ecohub.sap.com) provides enhanced transparency into the portfolio of solutions that further extend existing SAP investments and engages the community by including user feedback, ratings and demos. Partner solutions on SAP EcoHub can be sorted according to 25 industries, by regional availability, solution type, partner company name, relevance to a business challenge, community-generated rating, most-viewed and most-recently added, among other parameters.
With these regional offerings, SAP continues to foster its robust ecosystem of customers and partners that collaborate closely to develop offerings that target to deliver maximum value and drive further innovation. Through interactive communities such as SDN, the BPX community and the Business Objects community, members of the ecosystem exchange ideas, discuss needs and identify solutions to augment their SAP installations or identify opportunities for co-innovation on new solutions. SAP's customer-centric approach to its ecosystem aims to achieve more valuable offerings provided by partners, increased innovation among community members, and breakthrough results for customers.
"As customer growth increases at an accelerating rate, it is important for the SAP communities to evolve to meet the diverse needs of various markets and the roles and industries within those markets, understanding the different needs customers and partners from region to region have for content and community exchanges," said Mark Yolton, senior vice president, SAP Community Network, SAP. "With the addition of Chinese-language pages, content and discussion forums to our community sites and regional features within SAP EcoHub, we are reaffirming our commitment to the APJ region in particular and to supporting the market-specific needs of our entire global ecosystem."
