Die Energiewende findet nicht nur auf, sondern auch neben der Straße statt. Die hocheffizienten Leuchtdioden der Solarstraßenleuchte von Schletter spenden nachts das Licht, das ihre Photovoltaikzellen tagsüber in Strom verwandelt und in ihrem ebenso leistungsstarken wie langlebigen Akku gespeichert haben. Während herkömmliche Blei-Akkus bereits nach ca. 600 Ladezyklen in ihrer Leistungsfähigkeit deutlich eingeschränkt sind, liegt die Lebensdauer der in der SL-Sol verbauten Akkumulatoren bei ca. 3.000 Zyklen. Da in der Regel keine weitere Verkabelung erforderlich ist, lassen sich durch den Einsatz der SL-Sol auch die Baukosten erheblich reduzieren.
