Die in Daegu, der viertgrößten Stadt Südkoreas angesiedelte Fabrik zählt hinsichtlich ihres Automatisierungsgrads und der eingesetzten Prozesstechnik mit zum Avanciertesten, was momentan weltweit verfügbar ist. Fortan werden hier pro Jahr ca. 10 Millionen Solarzellen produziert, was einer installierten Leistung von gut 30 MWp entspricht.
Bei der Eröffnung waren eine ganze Reihe hochrangiger Persönlichkeiten aus Politik und Wirtschaft anwesend, so z.B. der stellvertretende Wirtschafts- und Energieminister Koreas, Herr Yungho Oh, oder Herr Sangdeuk Lee, Vizepräsident der koreanischen Nationalversammlung. Die Schmid Gruppe war durch Christian Buchner, Geschäftsführer der Schmid Technology GmbH, vertreten.
Die koreanische Millinet Solar wurde 2005 für Produktion und Vertrieb multikristalliner Solarzellen und gegründet. Stammkapital sind 8,5 Millionen US-$.
