The purchase contract for a Pre-treatment Line for Solder Mask and a Solder Mask Developer was concluded through Schmid's representative for Scandinavia, Schneidler SE, Sweden. Both systems were ordered in high-quality Schmid PremiumLINE design. The processing modules feature fine line spray technology and a quad-staggered system, to ensure an optimum distribution of contact of the transport rollers on the surface of the printed boards. Up to 28 high aspect ratio multi-layers with a material thickness of 0.14 to 6 mm can be transported on the processing lines. The conceptual planning and implementation of the new systems was carried out in a joint project by Schmid and Aspocomp Oulu Oy. Over a period of many years the two system partners have built up a strong relationship of mutual trust which had provided the necessary security for investment, particularly in difficult economic times.
Schmid quality in China
Schmid advanced long ago from a German machine manufacturer to an internationally operating Group. Since mid-year 2008, the complete production equipment for the PCB industry has been produced by the daughter company Schmid Zhuhai Ltd. in China. Schmid, the system supplier and specialist for wet processes and automation in the high-end application field, guarantees its customers unchanged German top quality with which it was earned the confidence of Aspocomp Oulu Oy. With investments in the new factory in Zhuhai, all conditions for a state-of-the-art production have been met. Zhuhai is fully SAP-driven, CNC machine programs and production processes are shared with the German production site, the Chinese work force had German training and the equipment is still designed in Germany. In the ultramodern building comprising a total surface area of 20,000 m², a workforce of 200 people is presently employed under a German management. A technology center in Zhuhai is planned by the end of 2009 to provide the opportunity of testing production lines with different processes.
