Die Abkürzung IP steht für "International Protection". Im englischen Sprachraum wird sie jedoch fast ausschliesslich mit "Ingress Protection" übersetzt. Diese IP-Schutzarten definieren den Schutzgrad des Gehäuses gegen Berührung, Fremdkörper und Wasser.
