Die chinesische Registrierungsstelle hat 2010 die Registrierungsbedingungen verändert. Nur chinesische Firmen und Niederlassungen ausländischer Firmen in China dürfen chinesische Domains registrieren. Das hat zur Folgen, dass die meisten Anbieter von cn-domains ausserhalb Chinas keine cn-Domains mehr registrieren können.

Bei ICANN-Registrar Secura sind trotz dieser neuen Bedingungen Registrierungen von cn-Domains möglich. Wenn der Kunde keine Niederlassung in China hat, stellt Secura einen Treuhänder, auf dessen Namen die Domain eingetragen wird. Secura bestätigt , dass der Kunde der wirkliche Eigentümer sind.
