BCX - intelligent switching, monitoring and control of power

(PresseBox) (Kaufbeuren, )
With the BCX family, Sensor-Technik Wiedemann (STW) is presenting a new generation of on-board control units for mobile machines which combine the distribution of energy in the cabin with monitoring and control functions. The BCX family unites the advantages of the tried and tested ESX control units and flexible power distribution in one device. Through the separation of active and passive electronics, customer-specific versions can also be implemented inexpensively and rapidly.

Customizing through a flexible product concept

The BCX family is based on a flexible housing concept and an active control module which implements the intelligent part of the on-board control unit and which has been derived from the tried and tested ESX family. In this way, continuous programmability and portability between central and decentralized control units and the on-board control units is achieved. Through flexible design possibilities for the fuses and relays on the passive power unit of the BCX, individual product requirements can be implemented with little effort.

Decentralized power distribution

Consistently-increasing requirements placed on the E/E (electric / electronic) architecture increasingly demand decentralized solutions for the power distribution in vehicles. Through the integration of the BCX as slave module into the vehicle network and the control through a central control unit or through intelligent central electrics via CAN, the electrical energy distribution can be directly implemented at the consumers in the machine.

Control and power distribution in one

The BCX as an “all in one” solution unites the control of the working functionality with the power distribution into one housing. Through the high performance density of the BCX family, complete E/E architectures and control functionalities can be implemented in compact mobile machines using only one module.

Monitoring through integrated status detection

The status detection of the passive components such as relays and fuses and the option of power measurement for individual consumers permits a targeted detection of the statuses of fuses and relays, right up to the detection of defective consumers on the vehicle.
