The STW success story continues

(PresseBox) (Kaufbeuren, )
The family owned company Sensor-Technik Wiedemann (STW) is ready to face the future with a new group structure and a successful handover to the next generation. Together with the sister company Kaufbeurer Mikrosysteme Wiedemann (KMW), the 30+ year success story will continue under the umbrella of the Wiedemann Holding GmbH & Co. KG. Sonja Wiedemann, daughter of the company founders and managing director in the Wiedemann Group since 2013, takes over the majority of the shares in the holding company.

Founded in 1985 by Katharina and Wolfgang Wiedemann, STW began developing and manufacturing pressure measurement systems, but soon moved into electronic controls for mobile machines. In 1994, KMW was founded for the production of thin-film pressure cells, an essential component for high quality pressure sensors. Today, the group's portfolio includes electronic products and software solutions for the digitization, automation and electrification of mobile machines and special solutions for mechanical and industrial applications.

With over 500 employees, STW is one of the leading medium-sized companies in southern Germany and in 2018 generated sales of over €80 million. By focusing on long-term economically and technically relevant topics such as the Internet of Things, autonomous driving and operations and e-mobility, it continues on a reliable growth course. Examples of STW solutions include controlling complex construction and agricultural machinery, remotely monitoring exhaust aftertreatment systems in public transport, ensuring fuel cell vehicles can be safely refuelled and providing electric drives for vehicles and machines and the corresponding infrastructure.

In 2018, the controlling majority of the holding company's shares were transferred to Sonja Wiedemann.

Wolfgang Wiedemann has taken over the chair of the holding's advisory board. Werner Sill, previously chairman of the advisory board, will change to the management of the holding and manage the group's business alongside Sonja Wiedemann.

This new structure ensures that the group of companies will continue to be run as a family business with the strong identification between employees and the company being a major contributor to a successful future.

Katharina and Wolfgang Wiedemann continue to hold a minority share in the group of companies. They will continue to work as consultants to the group in the future and dedicate more time to their honorary and charitable projects.
