- SFC Energy’s UFC ensures up to 2 years of unattended operation of sensors or surveillance cameras without requiring fuel cartridge exchanges
- Product is installed underground, with almost zero thermal or sound detectability, for maximum efficiency and security of covert operations
- UFC is the second SFC fuel cell type the International Defense Force has ordered, building on the success of the NGFC (Next Generation Fuel Cell) order placed in 2015
SFC Energy’s UFC will be used to reliably power sensor and surveillance equipment in harsh environments. In the mission scenario of this order, the UFC must reliably power the devices for up to two years without any user attendance or fuel cartridge exchanges. For this purpose it is equipped with two standard M28 SFC fuel cartridges (56 l of fuel total).
The UFC, a derivative based on the successful track record of SFC’s EMILY fuel cell platform, expands into underground and covert applications. At a weight of only 25 kg the fully integrated power generator can be easily carried by soldiers, police and law enforcement officers. The system is certified for air transportation.
The UFC is supplied in a fully integrated system complete with battery and a choice of fuel cartridges from 5 to 28 l. Number and size of cartridges can be selected upon mission requirement by the operator to ensure unattended undetectable power for as many weeks, months or even years as required without user attendance.
Major advantages of the UFC are extremely long power autonomy of the devices operated without user attendance, almost zero detectable thermal or noise signatures, light weight and ultra rapid deployment. It can be used above ground or underground in a multitude of security & surveillance applications.
“The UFC is the latest addition to our dedicated portfolio of off-grid and back-up power solutions for defense and security applications,” says Dr. Peter Podesser, CEO of SFC Energy. “Our portable, vehicle-based and stationary power products are successfully used by many international defense organizations in their missions. In view of the growing need for more safety and protection we see a large potential for our products in supplying reliable off-grid and back-up power to defense and security devices, i.e. in border protection, public event and site monitoring, and covert mobile and stationary applications.”
Numerous international NATO and PfP defense organizations are using SFC Energy fuel cell products. SFC Energy has been cooperating closely with German Bundeswehr, U.S. Army and other Defense Organizations for over 10 years, with SFC products carrying NATO stock numbers. SFC Energy has sold in total over 35,000 fuel cell systems in defense and security, off-grid industry and consumer applications worldwide.
