“We can design, make, supply and deliver for customers of every size in every corner of the world – whether your product is still a notion on a napkin, in mass production, or at any point in between,” says Georg Steinberger, vice president of communications, Avnet EMEA. “At this year’s electronica we want to demonstrate to attendees – regardless if they are a start-up, already our customer, or a visitor new to us -- Avnet’s extensive ecosystem.”
The four major Avnet business units will each host a dedicated area of the booth, enabling visitors to discover their unique offerings and propositions and to gain a wider and deeper insight into Avnet’s ecosystem and broad range of capabilities. Avnet’s electronica presence in Hall C5 will be accompanied by participation in the show’s start-up initiative electronica Fast Forward, the young professionals’ area called electronica Experience and by hosting a Community Developers Lounge.
Highlights of the dedicated areas for each of the four business units include:
Avnet Abacus
Avnet Abacus, a leading interconnect, passive, electro-mechanical and power distributor, will showcase six demo stations highlighting its broad mix of technology and expertise to provide design solutions for a range of customer applications. One example will be Hanhaa’s parcel-tracking system, which perfectly demonstrates the close engagement between Avnet Abacus and its strategic franchise partners to offer engineering solutions to support customers in turning an idea into a commercial success and reducing time to market.
EBV Elektronik
EBV Elektronik, the leading specialist in EMEA semiconductor distribution, will have its main focus on IoT, artificial intelligence, its vertical segments and the latest EBV chips. With its technical experts on the booth, customers will have the possibility to talk about the latest technology and the constantly changing market conditions.
Farnell element14
Farnell element14, the Development Distributor, will be presenting its range of intelligent technology for intelligent solutions. Visitors to the stand will follow the journey from research and design through to production and maintenance, supported by demonstrations of the latest technologies available for embedded applications, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, machine learning and 3D printing. Technical experts will be on stand to talk about new ways that customers can accelerate their time to market by deploying intelligent technology at every stage of design.
Additionally Avnet EMEA is a diamond sponsor of the electronica Fast Forward award and will be present at the careers and young professionals’ area electronica Experience.
electronica Fast Forward
To support engineers and start-up companies, Avnet Silica and EBV Elektronik are sponsoring the electronica Fast Forward 2018 platform, powered by Elektor. As part of the sponsorship Avnet Silica and EBV Elektronik launched their Board Games contest entitled “Design for a Better World“, which challenges participants to turn an idea into a market-ready product with one of the offered development kits. Participants also have the chance to win one of the prizes in total worth more than 15,000 Euros. More details and participation guidelines for the Board Games contest are available here https://www.elektormagazine.com/widgets/board-games.
electronica Experience
This new careers space is targeted at university and high school students to inform them about careers in the electronics industry. Avnet will have a booth in the electronica Experience centre, which will include a demo area where visitors can learn more about Avnet’s young professionals, students on the dual study programme, and apprentices, through virtual reality glasses. Moreover, the booth will feature ‘Pepper’ – a robot who will speak to visitors and dance for them. Additionally, there will be interactive lighting and automotive demos.
