The maintenance operations on SHE-systems are only to be done by authorized technical staff. By the choice of the specialist company following points have to be ensured:

- The general knowledge for the system, which is maintained has to be verified
- The supply of the spare parts has to be guaranteed.
- In some cases the authorization by the manufacturer is necessary.
- For electrical SHE-systems the certificate of a professional according to DIN 31000 has to be presented.

By the choice of maintenance companys, following decision creterions should be regarded:

- The maintenance company is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9000
- The maintenance technicians have to be trained regularly be the manufacturer
- The maintenance will be realised by plant-specific check lists
- SHE-logbooks are wield professional
- The maintenance company has got a sufficient indemnity insurance
