Smart Robotics, Europe’s leading robotics company specializing in warehouse automation, will reveal its AI-powered Smart Item Picker at LogiMAT 2025. This advanced solution automates the traditional pick and place workflow by lifting items from Autostore bins, placing them into shipping cartons, and finally transferring them onto conveyor belts for further processing—all within mere seconds. With a throughput rate of 500 source bins per hour, Smart Robotics invites visitors to witness this innovation at Booth 8B18 from March 11th.

Enhancing Fulfillment Through Intelligent Automation

The Smart Item Picker is designed to address labor shortages, meet rising fulfillment demands, and minimize errors commonly found in logistics. Thanks to its advanced AI vision software and 3D scanners, this fully integrated solution identifies items in real time without the need for manual SKU teaching.

Complementing its AI vision software is its intelligent hardware design, featuring a flipping component that adjusts the angle of items to optimize space within shipping cartons. This hardware design works in harmony with the AI vision software, continuously learning from each pick to determine the best angle to grasp items and identify ideal placements.

To deliver a comprehensive end-to-end solution, the Smart Item Picker is equipped with barcode scanners that verify picked items against the warehouse’s master data, ensuring orders are delivered to the correct customer. Additionally, the robot’s gripper features integrated weight sensors to ensure the correct quantity of items is picked, leaving no room for error.

"With rising labor shortages in warehouses coinciding with surging order volumes, automation has become a necessity rather than a choice,” said Heico Sandee, CEO at Smart Robotics. “Our Item Picker automates key fulfillment steps, helping warehouses achieve greater accuracy, faster processing speeds, and the scalability needed to meet growing demands.”

Compact, Collaborative, and High-Performance Design

The Smart Item Picker is a collaborative robot (cobot) that sets a new standard with its high throughput and effortless Plug & Play software. It integrates effortlessly into existing warehouse systems without causing any downtime. True to its name as a ‘cobot,’ it is designed to work safely alongside humans, automatically reducing speed when operators enter predefined safety zones.
