The new high-end VCI COMfalcon® IoT from Sontheim has an integrated Linux operating system. Mobile telecommunication via LTE (2G as fallback) creates IoT functionality as well as the flexible and location-independent possibility of data transmission. This is supported by the choice of a BroadR-Reach interface - the standard for future wired connectivity applications.
As a handheld service device, the VCI thus combines the robustness of our proven interfaces with the latest technologies and features.
Other wireless interfaces include WLAN and Bluetooth 5.0 LE to connect to a diagnostic device.
An optional GPS interface is also available.
Through the embedded diagnostics, diagnostic applications can be operated holistically and directly on the COMfalcon® IoT. This makes further connections to a third-party device, such as a laptop, obsolete. Information, such as flash routines or ECU descriptions, can be created and implemented on the VCI. Among other things, this allows users to access the CAN or file system. OTX workflows and ODX descriptions thus work out-of-the-box with the new COMfalcon® IoT. Thus, the VCI can be seamlessly integrated into Sontheim's modular diagnostic tool chain and existing service applications can be rethought.
