Rettig ICC, a subsidiary of the Finnish Rettig Group Ltd., specializes in the manufacture of heating appliances, underfloor heating systems and designer radiators, as well as control systems and valves. The group has countless well-known brands, such as Vogel & Noot, Purmo, Myson and Finimetal. The Austrian branch of the corporation is based in Wartberg in the province of Styria. Rettig ICC employs approximately 3,500 staff and had sales of 614 million euros in 2007. The Rettig ICC Group's IT is planned and controlled from Wartberg. "We recently consolidated 10 brands into two brand umbrellas, changed the organizational structure accordingly and are now planning the introduction of a group-wide ERP platform. A condition for this is that we first ensure the implementation of a scaleable, high-availability and disaster-proof ERP infrastructure. S&T impressed us with their concept as well as the implementation skills they demonstrated during the realization", explains Erich Maierhofer, ICT Manager of Infrastructure Services at Rettig Austria GmbH.
"Greenfield" Planning and Implementation
S&T DACH functioned as a central project point of contact for all the components necessary for the required IT infrastructure. Rettig ICC wanted to consolidate all local ERP production servers in an externally hosted high-availability production system. The solution planned and installed by S&T therefore included a central and redundantly implemented SAN (Storage Area Network), three redundant INFOR ERP LN application servers, two Oracle database clusters (including licenses), three VM Ware servers, the necessary backup infrastructure and the network infrastructure. The design and implementation was carried out in cooperation with the client's own experts. The entire solution is hosted externally. "In this project we have really brought our advantages to bear - Rettig ICC only had to coordinate with one skilled partner, which planned and implemented the entire solution. Our comprehensive knowledge base and technological skills mean that we have the capacity to carry out such extensive projects", comments Georg Komornyik, Region General Manager at S&T DACH.
