All Steinbichler scanning technologies for quality assurance can now be mounted on a robot. After the ABIS sensors for surface inspection and the COMET systems for surface detection by means of strip light, now the STEINBICHLER T-SCAN laser scanner is also automated. The benefits of the collaboration with Metrologic Group are now bearing fruit, as a leading company in measurement software can now offer robot-supported scanning. The laser offers advantages in scanning speed and surface cooperativeness - all components can be scanned and thus absolutely recorded in-line.
Metrolog X4 i-Robot is the first reliable product perfectly suited for applications requiring flexibility and productivity simultaneously with a high measurement precision. "The Metrolog X4 i-Robot measuring software is operated with a multi-axle robot arm. The robot serves merely as the tool holder, with no requirements on specific precision, manufacturers or types," reports Carsten Gericke. "The measurement precision is assured by means of a separate tracking camera which follows the STEINBICHLER T-SCAN CS equipped with positioning LEDs. The most important applications for this technology are for inspection on production lines in the automotive industry, the aeronautics and space industry and their suppliers where Metrolog X4 i-Robot opens the door to adaptive measurements and makes any robots programming as simple as CMM's."
The STEINBICHLER T-SCAN CS automated laser scanner will be presented at CONTROL 2015 in Stuttgart from May 5-8, 2015 at the Metrologic Group stand (Hall 3, Stand 3314) and at the Steinbichler Booth (Hall 5, Stand 5304).
