Electromobility - Nickel, Cobalt, Lithium

Battery raw materials are in demand and are being increasingly sought after.

(PresseBox) (Herisau, )
Almost everyone knows about lithium-ion batteries by now. Without them, there would be no electromobility and no portable devices. Cobalt, for example, is used in the batteries. According to the German Raw Materials Agency, a rising demand for cobalt is expected. By 2026, between 187,000 and 225,000 tons of cobalt are projected to be needed worldwide. The fact that most of the cobalt comes from the Congo is unfortunate due to the labor conditions there. Most of the cobalt from the Congo is purchased by China, processed, and then enters various products worldwide. Cobalt chemicals are used for batteries, while cobalt metals are primarily used for superalloys, magnets, and hard metals.

Nickel is also an important metal for alloys and steel production. Nickel makes steel corrosion-resistant. It is also found in rechargeable batteries. Lithium is an essential component of these batteries and is thus used in every electric vehicle. In recent months, the USA has approved a lithium mine and granted another company a loan for the development of a lithium mine. Currently, there is only one facility in the USA. Although lithium prices have recently fallen and producers must reduce production or postpone expansions, the demand for lithium is definitely continuing to grow.

Century Lithium - https://www.commodity-tv.com/play/mining-news-flash-aurania-resources-century-lithium-meridian-mining-and-vizsla-silver/ - is making significant strides in Nevada for lithium supply. Lithium carbonate with a purity of 99.5 percent is already being produced in a pilot plant.

For cobalt and nickel, the Canada Nickel Company - https://www.commodity-tv.com/play/mining-news-flash-with-uranium-energy-canada-nickel-miata-metals-and-endeavour-silver/ - is very well positioned. The flagship project Crawford is located in Ontario's Timmins Nickel District and is 100 percent owned by the Canada Nickel Company.
