Neugeräte von HP werden ab sofort mit einer vorinstallierten, aktuellen Version von Norton Internet Security ausgeliefert. Nach Ablauf der 60-Tage können Nutzer das Abonnement für die Software auf ein Jahr verlängern. Der Preis für die Verlängerung beträgt 49,99 Euro.
Norton Internet Security 2007 stoppt Internetgefahren wie Spionageprogramme, Viren, Würmer oder Hackerangriffe und warnt Anwender über ein Antiphishing-Tool vor betrügerische Webseiten. Die Sicherheitslösung blockiert zudem Angreifer, bevor sie auf den Rechner des Nutzers zugreifen können. Ein weiteres Merkmal ist auch die Erkennung und Entfernung von digitalen Schädlingen, die sich tief im System tarnen (Rootkits) oder sich mit Hilfe spezieller Algorithmen verschlüsseln (Packer). Über die neue proaktive Technologie SONAR können zudem noch unbekannte Schadprogramme erkannt werden. Praktisch für den Anwender: Die Software verfügt über eine Firewall, die sich automatisch einstellt. Lästige Warnmeldungen werden auf diese Weise fast ganz vermieden.
