Norton AntiVirus 2007 blockt proaktiv auch noch unbekannte Varianten ganzer Wurm- und Virenfamilien ab, ohne dass für jedes einzelne Schadprogramm eine eigene Signatur erforderlich wäre. Darüber hinaus ist die Erkennung und Entfernung von getarnten Schadprogrammen (Rootkits) sowie von Spyware deutlich verbessert. Das Sicherheitspaket Norton Internet Security 2007 kombiniert Norton AntiVirus 2007 mit weiteren, wichtigen Funktionen: Die Firewall konfiguriert sich weitestgehend selbst, Warnmeldungen werden fast ganz vermieden. Neue Funktion: Ein Anti-Phishing-Tool erkennt betrügerische Internetseiten in Echtzeit. Die Funktion warnt den Anwender beim Aufrufen gefälschter Webseiten (Phishing-Seiten). Nutzern von Online-Banking oder Internetauktionen bietet das Tool so mehr Sicherheit vor dem Diebstahl ihrer persönlichen Daten wie Kreditkarten- und Kontoinformationen, Zugangsdaten wie Passwörter, PIN- oder TAN-Nummern über das Web. Gegenüber den Vorversionen belasten die Versionen 2007 deutlich weniger die Systemressourcen; vollständige Scans oder auch das Hochfahren des Rechners erfolgen sichtbar schneller.
