Radioaktivität für den Menschen - Physik und Technik der Nuklearmedizin

Beim Umgang mit offenen radioaktiven Stoffen wird dafür gesorgt, dass sie nicht in den menschlichen Körper gelangen. Die Nuklearmedizin tut dies absichtlich! Ist dies mit Gesundheits- und Umweltschutz vereinbar? Moleküle können mit Radioisotopen markiert werden. Im Körper verhalten sie sich völlig identisch wie die stabilen. Radioisotope emittieren aber Gammastrahlen, welche außerhalb der Körpers nachweisbar sind. So kann gemessen werden, wie Aktivität in einem Organ angereichert, gespeichert und wieder ausgeschieden wird. Aus örtlichen Verteilungen und zeitlichen Verläufen kann auf Erkrankungen geschlossen werden. Ob und wie dieser Nutzen das Risiko rechtfertigt, ist neben Physik und Technik der Nuklearmedizin Teil des Vortrages.
