Trend Micro (Nasdaq: TMIC, TSE: 4704) hat aktuelle globale Entwicklungen der Malware-Szene analysiert und stellt aktuelle Bedrohungen vor: Laut Trend Micro ist das Aufkommen von Grayware in nahezu jedem Bereich gestiegen. Auch der Anstieg von Crimeware ist nach Einschätzung des Content Security Spezialisten bedenklich.
Grayware unterteilt sich in die Bereiche Adware, Trackware, Browser-Helper Objects (BHOs) sowie Browser-Hijacker (BHJs) und wird für besonders aggressive Formen des Internet-Marketings eingesetzt. Der signifikante Anstieg von Adware um 8,1 Prozent beruht vor allem auf dem zurück liegenden Weihnachtsgeschäft und den damit verbundenen, teils aggressiven Werbekampagnen. Doch auch das Aufkommen anderer verbreiteter Formen von Grayware ist gestiegen: Trackware ist um 5,4 Prozent angewachsen, der Anteil von Browser-Helper Objects (BHO) um 2 Prozent und bei Browser-Hijackern um 0,5 Prozent.
Auch der jüngste Anstieg der Crimware-Statistik ist nach Einschätzung von Trend Micro ein Grund zur Besorgnis. Das gilt insbesondere, da es schwierig ist, die jeweilige Reichweite und den verursachten wirtschaftlichen Schaden zu bestimmen. Crimeware wird bei betrügerischen Bankgeschäften und Identitätsdiebstahl verwendet. Trend Micro identifizierte eine Zunahme bei Keyloggern (1 Prozent), Freeloadern (0,8 Prozent), Hacker-Tools (0,5 Prozent) und Dialern (0,1 Prozent).
