TÜV Rheinland: Cooperation with start-up company Synthesia

Artificial intelligence (AI) in the digitalisation of learning content continues to gain in importance / AI-supported translation of training videos for TÜV Rheinland Academy's international training business

(PresseBox) (Cologne, )
As part of its cooperation with the start-up Accelerator Plug And Play, TÜV Rheinland has implemented several projects with Synthesia, a company for AI-supported video production. Specifically, based on Synthesia's AI technology, training and instructional videos, which TÜV Rheinland Academy offers for its internationally active customers, were translated into several languages and the lip movements of the speaker were automatically adapted. This enables the expert to address the learner directly in his or her native language.

TÜV Rheinland as a start-up partner

With this cooperation, the globally active testing service provider TÜV Rheinland is also consistently pursuing its innovation and digitalisation strategy. "The cooperation with Synthesia enables us to intensify the global use of videos as one of the most effective media for conveying learning content", says Phillip Meyers, Head of Innovation at TÜV Rheinland Academy & Life Care. The London-based start-up is a leading synthetic media company founded in 2017 by a team of researchers and entrepreneurs from UCL, Stanford, TUM and Cambridge.

TÜV Rheinland Academy focuses on AI-supported learning content

Today, TÜV Rheinland's environment is characterised by the digitalisation of the globalised world, in which technology, economy and society are constantly changing and innovations are becoming increasingly important. As the motor of a modern society, as a guarantor of technical innovation and as a testing service provider whose core business is concerned with the reliability of systems as well as safety, and which can thus contribute to a better quality of life for many people, TÜV Rheinland consistently exploits the opportunities offered by digitalisation. With the development of new technologies (including IoT, artificial intelligence), the company is also changing, digitising its traditional testing business and developing new services that support its customers in making their products safer in the digital world. This also applies to TÜV Rheinland Academie, which is currently active in more than 25 countries worldwide and offers a diverse, cross-sectoral spectrum of vocational qualification measures - in traditional fields of work such as welding as well as in the areas of IT, health, care, mobility, construction or real estate.

"AI-supported learning content will continue to gain in importance in the training of employees in the near future. The partnership with Synthesia gives us the opportunity to further develop digital offerings along our core tasks and to use them for innovative learning formats. We can now offer our international customers individualised videos in their respective company languages. This allows them to benefit even more from our expertise," says TÜV Rheinland expert Phillip Meyers.

Nadia Eslami, Vice President Partnerships at Synthesia adds: "We are delighted to be working with TÜV Rheinland, one of the leading testing service providers worldwide and a global provider of qualification measures. The combination of video training material with AI technology will be a cornerstone in the future training area. The use of AI-based learning nuggets benefits providers of qualification measures such as the TÜV Rheinland Academy as well as their customers.”
