LAPP at the Intersolar Europe Trade Fair

Harnessing the sun’s hours with LAPP solutions

(PresseBox) (Stuttgart, )
In photovoltaic systems, cables and components must be particularly durable and very robust, as they are constantly exposed to wind and weather. LAPP will present a new generation of connection solutions  at the Intersolar Europe Trade Fair (19th to 21st June, Hall A5, Stand 570).

The new ÖLFLEX® SOLAR H1 BUR is a true all-rounder for DC applications up to 1.8 kV. Due to its halogen-free core insulation and sheath compound, it has a Dca classification and thus meets particularly high fire protection requirements (according to EU Directive 305/2011; BauPVO/CPR). Thanks to its AD8 classification according to IEC 60364-5-51 and IEC 62440, it is transversely watertight. This means that even permanent submersion in shallow, uncontaminated water is possible. Due to its increased mechanical strength, the solar cable is also suitable for underground installation in a cable trench with a sand bed and has been tested using the "Impact Resistance Test" and "Crushing Resistance Test" in accordance with UL 854.

Long service life

The heat resistance of the new ÖLFLEX® SOLAR H1 BUR is also particularly important – even if it gets really hot, the cable is characterised by its high durability. This is possible thanks to their cross-linked insulation and sheath materials, which guarantee a high dielectric strength and a high short circuit temperature at high temperatures or high current loads. The new cable is also IEC-certified, which enables wide-ranging international use under IEC standards.

The new photovoltaic all-rounder is available in three different outer sheath colours for external differentiation of the DC conductor and is suitable for the unprotected connection of solar modules and inverters in earthed and unearthed photovoltaic systems in accordance with EN 50618 or for connecting solar modules to each other.

Suitable connector set

The matching counterpart for the new ÖLFLEX® SOLAR H1 BUR are the solar connectors from the EPIC® SOLAR series. The new EPIC® SOLAR 4 GEN2 F (socket insert) is ideal for fully automated connector assembly. This is a particularly weather-resistant solar connector for cabling solar modules, inverters and stand-alone systems in high-performance photovoltaic systems up to 1500 V. The crimp contact ensures maximum contact safety between the contact and the cable and establishes a vibration-proof connection. It is also suitable for conductor cross-sections of 4.0 - 6.0 mm2. The TÜV SÜD-certified connectors with self-locking cap nut and haptic feedback are compatible with many connectors from well-known manufacturers. The mating connector EPIC® SOLAR 4 GEN2 M (pin insert) is suitable for this.

The new solar package from LAPP is supplemented by the EPIC® SOLAR 4 GEN2 assembly tool, which makes it easy to assemble and disassemble the EPIC® SOLAR 4 GEN2 solar connectors. Another add-on is the EPIC® SOLAR 4 GEN2 caps, which prevent dirt and moisture from penetrating. They have an eye for attaching a securing cord to secure it to the cable. This means nothing is lost. For the parallel switching of solar modules and strings up to 1500 V DC, the compact and weather-resistant EPIC® SOLAR 4 GEN2 splitter is available. It is available as a variant with two pin inserts (FMM) or with two socket inserts (MFF). In addition to the aforementioned products, LAPP will also be offering custom-made solar patch assemblies in different lengths in the future. They are crimped on both sides and already assembled with the appropriate solar connector. The solar patch assemblies are also available with other branches upon request. Automated quality assurance is carried out at the end of assembly, thus excluding faulty connections.
