Especially product-oriented sectors are having difficulties standing out compared to their competitors. Innovative service offers are an essential instrument of differentiation. Apart from that companies can collect valuable customer knowledge, retain existing customers over the long term and increase sales significantly.
Using vivid examples from different sectors the study explains four strategies with which companies can gain growth through services. Then a method for the systematic development of customer-focused service innovations is introduced. Using a practical example the process starting with the analysis of customer demands to the derivation of specific service offers is illustrated. "It is important that all services are aligned towards the demands of the customer. Only then companies add value to their customers, which in return pays off for the company itself", Dr.-Ing.
