Coordinated software changes
Release Management, acting as a central instance, is responsible for transitioning software releases to production and, in accordance with ITIL, is an important part of the IT Service Management. The Release Manager, a new Valuemation module, provides support in the planning and creation of the release through to release for productive operation in coordination with the Change and Configuration Managers. Accompanying risk analyses minimize the risk of interruption of business processes when making software changes. The basis for all process modeling in Valuemation is the international standard - Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) - in its latest version, 2.0. Software deployment also ensures an effective software distribution and rollout process by means of centrally controlled and automated installation, configuration and maintenance of operating systems and applications. This module is based on the Management Suite of the technology partner, baramundi software AG.
Greater data quality & clarity
A new function package for data quality assures the integrity of the managed assets. The so-called Data Quality Manager grants administrators the possibility of defining and monitoring data quality. Once defined standards are undershot - for example, in the case of assignments to invalid cost centers or defined categories that are not used - a notification is issued. The new baseline functionality provides greater clarity in the IT infrastructure. It enables different historical data sets in the CMDB to be defined as a measurement basis (i.e., a baseline) and for them to be compared with each other, with the current data status or with the technical inventory of the discovery data. Specific actions dealing with deviations can be associated with rules and stored - i.e., automated creation and assignment of a Request for Change (RfC).
Service reporting and more
Many functions in the Service Economics modules have been revised and extended. Attention is drawn in particular to the creation of the so-called welcome pages for central roles - such as the Service Portfolio Manager, Planning & Calculation Manager or Service Level Manager. These roles offer individual, role-based information, views and tasks as early as upon entry to the system. The Planning & Calculation Manager role has been strongly reworked as follows: along with ergonomic improvements, the analysis options and the reporting function have been substantially extended. Dashboards - for example, the view of individual planning states, have been created based on the ARIS MashZone. They are supplemented by Quality Assurance dashboards.
