VIPA’s new ECOnomical PLC modules and accessories keep costs down

For smaller and simpler automation systems

(PresseBox) (Herzogenaurach, )
German PLC manufacturer offers low cost, fieldbus and I/O expansion modules with mid-range specifications for less demanding automation systems
As part of its System 200V range, VIPA the German designer and manufacturer of modular automation solutions offer an alternative range of lower cost fieldbus and I/O expansion modules. Known as the ECOnomical range, these modules have been engineered to provide mid-range specifications which are often required by smaller and more straightforward centralised automation applications.
The ECOnomical range includes Profibus-DP and CANopen slave modules, each with potential for eight expansion modules. For I/O expansion, the range covers 8 and 16 channel digital input and output units, and 4 channel/12-bit analog input and output units with both +/- 10 V and 4-20 mA configuration.
Cost savings of up to 50% can be achieved when comparing these modules with full-featured System 200V alternatives and all modules can be freely mixed to optimise costs in more complex systems.
The compact and modular VIPA System 200V control system has programming options for Siemens Step®7, an extensive range of expansion modules and includes a wide choice of master and slave fieldbus options. It is a well matched and scaleable PLC solution, aimed at small to medium, centralised or decentralised automation applications.

VIPA Gesellschaft für Visualisierung und Prozeßautomatisierung mbH

VIPA was founded in 1985 in Erlangen by Mr. Wolfgang Seel as a system house for automation engineering. After the first PC-based machine operating panel there were further developments of control and communication modules. The first customers were from the automotive and food industry, conveying engineering and machine and plant construction. VIPA has been increasingly active in the European market since 1995.

The introduction of the modular automation System 200V was the basis for creating more powerful, faster and more reliable systems. In the year 2000 the new 2000sq.m headquarter in Herzogenaurach, west of Erlangen was opened.

The development of the SPEED7 High-SPEED PLC in 2003 was a further technological milestone in the automation equipment range (www.speed7.com). In 2005, VIPA has extended the product range with the Touch Panel family.

More than 100 highly qualified employees are working for VIPA in Germany. In addition to that there are VIPA branche offices and Service partners in 55 countries.
