The Thüringische Weidmüller GmbH (TWG) in Wutha-Farnroda has received the Thuringian State Award for quality. TWG Plant Manager Ulrich Halbey and Ralf Hoppe, Managing Director of Weidmüller Interface received the award from the Thuringian Minister of Economy, Matthias Machning at the State Chancellery at Erfurt. The prize is awarded for excellent achievements in the field of quality management to companies located in Thüringen. The award is meant to sensitise to the close connection between commercial viability and quality management. TWG's concept won against that of nine competitive companies in the same category. An overall number of 36 companies took part in the quality competition. "We are proud to have received this award for our comprehensive quality projects. This encourages us to continue our way", explains Ulrich Halbey. TWG was able to convince the jury through its quality concept oriented on the excellence model of the EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) as well as through the sustained use of the Weidmüller Production Systems (WPS). TWG had already received the State Award for quality in the year 2000.
"With TWG we have a company in Thüringen that not only stands out due to the quality of its staff and its products, but that also takes on responsibility in the social environment" said the Minister of Economy, Matthias Machning, during the awards ceremony. "The company serves as a role model for other small and mediumsized enterprises. TWG is a success story demonstrating that a good qualitiy management leads to success" Matthias Machning added.
All in all, TWG has successfully mastered three qualifying rounds. The application consisting of a questionnaire based on the international EFQM model was followed by an elaboration of the application documents and an audit by the jury of experts. "The State Award automatically leads to intense involvement with the necessities of quality management and corporate efficiency. We have already gained a lot of new ideas for our company" says Ulrich Halbey.
