Weidmüller is using the expertise it has gained over the last few years to establish a comprehensive energy management system for manufacturing companies, and is offering customised advisory services relating to the topic of energy management within the context of Industry 4.0. Transparent overview of the actual energy flow Entirely in the spirit of networked production, data from current production processes is analysed, and a solution is developed and implemented. One of the key elements of energy management is to provide a transparent overview of the actual energy flows in production. This enables sites with high energy consumption to be addressed specifically. The Weidmüller system provides multiple analyses that can significantly reduce consumption: the Weidmüller algorithm can predict peak loads thanks to the analysis of historical data, and can show optimisation potential by means of Energy-Peak-Load Analytics. With its Out-of-Time-Detect function, the Weidmüller algorithm can also detect machines or machine parts that were not switched off at the weekend or in the evening, for example. And the Weidmüller algorithm also uses energy data to identify machines that are running outside of the specified standard operation as a result of wear or an imminent defect.
Complete service packages from a single source
Weidmüller offers both the retrofitting of pre-configured hardware as well as special software developed in conjunction with the cooperation partner and other related services – the customer receives a complete service package from a single source. The simple handling of the hardware is a real benefit for customers, as it can be integrated into each production facility based on the plug & play principle. Companies benefit from this integrated solution in more ways than one. The solution is offered from a single source, so companies no longer have to go through the time-consuming process of coordinating between different project partners. The installed software has already proven its worth and found acceptance in the industry. All of these points make for extremely short and affordable retrofitting and initial installation processes when compared with other systems. Nevertheless, Weidmüller's in-house experience is especially important: “completely reliable energy management has already been put to use at Weidmüller, where it has proven itself as a key element of integrated energy management throughout the entire company,“ reports Michael Piekarzewitz, Head of Product Management at Weidmüller.
