With the new product family, Weidmüller is not only extending the cable gland sizes from M12 to M63, but is also expanding their range of applications. The polyamide plastic cable glands are predestined for explosive risk environments where dust, humidity, extreme temperature conditions and vibrations could affect the installed devices. They are especially suited for demanding industrial and Ex applications - both inside and out - and especially in the petrochemical, energy generation, machine construction and motor / drive technology market segments. Furthermore, the new range of plastic Ex cable glands is designed so that users can install them in every enclosure family and so that they are simple to handle in both high-temperature and low-temperature environments.
The new product family of plastic Ex cable glands with an impact resistance of 7 joules offers the highest level of protection against external influences such as impacts or blows. Combined with an extended temperature range and documented conformity with standards, this allows for reliable and safe use in many applications. As a solution provider, Weidmüller is thus providing a new plastic cable gland, which comes into its own in assembly processes. This is because it is indispensable for assembly processes, since the components fulfil the current requirements in relation to design, testing and identification of electrical devices and explosion-proof components. The most recent amendment of EN60079-0:2012 was issued in April 2015. Weidmüller plastic cable glands for Ex applications meet the high requirements of this standard without restriction.
The new range of plastic Ex cable glands is available in eight standard sizes from M12 to M63 and for 14 different clamping areas (PG7-PG48 upon request). The clamp-on external cable diameter extends from 4 mm to 44 mm. All cable glands are immediately available ex-works in the protection classes IP66 and IP68 (5 bar, 30 min). Users can choose between two sealing materials: chloroprene and silicone. Its operating temperature range extends from -40 °C to +70 °C in the case of chloroprene and from -60 °C to +70 °C with silicone seals.
Besides EN60079-0:2012 conformity, each of the new plastic Ex cable glands for Ex e and Ex i applications has the following approvals: ATEX, IECEx and EAC.
