Die Science Fiction-Serie spielt in einer zukünftigen Gesellschaft - und beleuchtet gleichzeitig brisante Themen von heute wie die Energiefrage, Informationsfreiheit oder Verbrechen und deren Bestrafung. Im Zentrum der Handlung steht die Stadt "Electric City", erbaut als Symbol für Frieden und Sicherheit auf den Trümmern der untergegangenen Welt. Aber hinter der geordneten Fassade verbirgt sich eine Welt voller Geheimnisse und Gewalt. Geheimpolizei, Hinterhofgeschäfte und Mord - das alles spielt sich in "Electric City" ab und konterkariert die in Utopie gebaute Stadt.

Am Mittwoch (18.7.) und Donnerstag (19.7.) komplettieren jeweils weitere fünf Folgen die Serie. Yahoo! Deutschland strahlt "Electric City" im englischsprachigen Original mit deutschen Untertiteln aus. So kann auch das deutsche Publikum hören, wie Tom Hanks der Hauptfigur, dem Rasterfahnder und Agenten Cleveland Carr, seine Stimme leiht.
"Electric City" markiert Yahoo!s ersten Vorstoß in den Bereich fiktionaler Originalserien und wird von Yahoo! für ein globales Publikum exklusiv im Web ausgestrahlt. Urheber und ausführender Produzent der Serie ist Hollywoodstar Tom Hanks mit seinem Unternehmen Playtone, weiterer Partner ist Reliance Entertainment.
