ECR 2018: Complete mobile C-arm portfolio AHEAD with CMOS

Ziehm Imaging showcases premium edition CMOSline and Ziehm Usability Concept for increased ease of use in the OR

(PresseBox) (Vienna, Austria / Nuremberg, Germany, )
At this year’s ECR in Vienna, Ziehm Imaging strengthens its leadership in mobile C-arm imaging with a complete CMOS portfolio extending from compact mini C-arms to powerful high-end devices. The new CMOSline1 is aimed at professionals who are not content with the ordinary and who strive for the optimal. These premium full-size C-arms offer an enhanced imaging chain from generator to detector. Furthermore, they come with a Ziehm Imaging CMOS detector that is tailored exactly to the needs of the surgeon. Based on the tried-and-true flat-panel detector, the new CMOSline enables superior image quality by showing significantly more detail. It offers greater sensitivity, enabling surgeons to achieve better resolution – especially in magnification modes – while minimizing dose levels.

At ECR 2018, Ziehm Imaging will showcase all units in the CMOSline edition – with a 31 cm x 31 cm CMOS flat-panel detector for Ziehm Vision RFD 3D and Ziehm Vision RFD Hybrid Edition2, and a 20.5 cm x 20.5 cm CMOS flat-panel detector for Ziehm Solo FD.

Dose saving Beam Filtration technology

With the new CMOSline, Ziehm Imaging’s SmartDose3 concept now comes in a further developed version with the latest Beam Filtration technology.4 This new dose reduction technique for an optimized X-ray spectrum is part of the enhanced CMOS imaging chain. The combination enables an exceptional cut in skin entrance dose for all CMOSline systems. The premium line of Ziehm Imaging C-arms thus provides excellent image quality with a significantly lower dose.

Different volume options for ideal resolution in 3D imaging

Building on more than 10 years of experience in 3D imaging, the Ziehm Vision RFD 3D CMOSline features cutting-edge CMOS technology, bundling 2D and 3D functionality for greater intraoperative control, reducing the need for postoperative CT scans, and costly corrective surgeries. This mobile C-arm is thus ideal for high-end orthopedic, trauma and spinal interventions as well as for highly specialized maxillofacial and cochlear procedures. The CMOSline offers the freedom to choose from a range of 3D volume sizes to meet diverse needs in clinical routine. In addition to the standard volume of 16 cm x 16 cm x 16 cm, the Ziehm Vision RFD 3D now also provides two additional volume sizes for specialized applications. A dedicated larger field of view with 19.8 cm x 19.6 cm x 18.0 cm (axial x sagittal x coronal) covers larger anatomical regions and delivers more structure for procedures such as pelvis surgery with 5123 voxel. The higher number of voxel in all volume sizes guarantees better resolution without increasing dose levels from those used with the convenient 3203 voxel. Further, with an edge length of 10 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm, the mobile 3D C-arm provides a suitable option for zoom-in or intraoperative imaging in cochlear surgery.

Compact and powerful CMOSline systems for demanding interventions

The Ziehm Vision RFD Hybrid Edition is the first fully motorized mobile C-arm for the hybrid OR. The system is a space and cost saving alternative to fix installed systems for highly demanding cardiovascular procedures. The system will be showcased with a 31 cm x 31 cm CMOS detector at ECR.

Due to its versatile design, the Ziehm Solo FD ensures maximum flexibility even in small operating theaters. This C-arm is ideally suited for orthopedic, trauma and pain management procedures. Being the first Ziehm Imaging system with a CMOS flat-panel detector, Ziehm Solo FD now features further CMOSline advantages such as the dose saving Beam Filtration technology. Furthermore, Ziehm Vision RFD and Ziehm Vision FD are also available in the CMOSline edition.

New Ziehm Usability Concept to increase ease of use in the OR

For the first time, Ziehm Imaging is presenting the new Usability Concept at ECR.5 The bundle of hardware and software features supports easy communication and improves process efficiency in the OR. In a challenging clinical environment, the entire concept is geared toward increasing ease of use in daily tasks. As a part of the Ziehm Usability Concept, the new Articulating Monitor Arm6 is on display in Vienna. It is mounted on the monitor cart and can be moved in several directions to provide the most ergonomic viewing angle for the clinician in diverse OR set-ups.

OrthoScan mini C-arms for fluoroscopy of the extremities

In addition to the mobile C-arms of Ziehm Imaging, the OrthoScan FD Pulse of sister company OrthoScan will be on display at the joint booth. The first mini C-arm with pulsed fluoroscopy worldwide is mainly used in orthopedic surgical procedures such as hand and foot surgery.
