The architects and designers Pia Berwanger and Gunter Seidel have realised this practical, obvious product "that nobody had thought of before". The idea for their handbag hanger came to them while working on a commission. The architects were asked to enlarge an existing dressing room and develop an idea to store the numerous valuable handbags in an uncomplicated way.
Under the Handbagstars label, the designers market the hanger on which the handbag can be hung easily and functionally in the wardrobe or on the coat rack. This saves space and protects the often expensive item, as neither the bag strap nor the actual bag can kink. The Bagbutler is a further development and combines the handbag hanger with a storage option for mobile phones and other items.
The innovative hangers have been honoured with the German Design Award Special. Demand, including from prominent customers, is already attracting imitators. Both design and function are protected by patent. Production takes place exclusively in Germany.
The handbag hanger is available in the editions COLOUR (in numerous attractive colours made of recyclable plastic), ICONIC (made of recyclable cast aluminium with three different surface finishes in gold, chrome and copper) and FINEST ICONIC (polished stainless steel with additional leather coating) in the sizes Small for small, fixed handbag hangers and Large for full-size hangers. Prices range from 19.90 euros to 129.90 euros. The Bagbutler costs between 89.90 euros and 99.90 euros, depending on the model.
