The floor in a Volvo Trucks maintenance workshop in the south of Tel Aviv was renovated last year with this durable and extremely resistant material. "The high loads caused by the heavy vehicles had not only left marks on the floor; furrows and cracks made renovation urgently necessary. To deliver a fully functional industrial floor that will last for many years, we recommended the fast-setting KORODUR product. From many years of experience we can truly say that 'NEODUR HE 60 rapid metallic' is perfectly capable of withstanding not only the stress caused by the massive tires of trucks and wheel loaders, but also metal tracks," says Amit Weinstein from the Israeli specialist company Shoshani & Weinstein.
A test run on a partial section satisfied the high expectations
In a first step, to demonstrate the effectiveness of this flooring solution to the client, a floor section was installed on a trial basis - with sustainable success: The area was ready to be walked on just three hours after laying and was fully usable after 24 hours. A following test drive with a tracked vehicle confirmed the outstanding durability and resistance. The other 200 sqm of the workshop area were renovated with "NEODUR HE 60 rapid metallic".
The Shoshani & Weinstein Company Ltd, founded in 1950, supplies a wide range of building materials and has relied on KORODUR products for decades in the realisation of numerous projects. In addition to "NEODUR HE 60 rapid metallic", other flooring solutions from the Amberg-based manufacturer are used for the production of heavy-duty floors - as in the Volvo workshop.
Easy, time-saving and safe application
The application is simple: The surface to be treated is milled approx. 15 to 20 mm deep, shot-blasted and cleaned, then it is usually pre-treated with the universal primer "uniPrimer" from KORODUR. UniPrimer protects against too fast dehydration; it also reduces the time-consuming pre-wetting in industrial floor renovation. Next, the system bonding agent "HB 5 rapid" is applied. This fast-setting, mineral bonding agent was specially formulated for the laying of fast-setting bonded screed systems.
The "NEODUR HE 60 rapid metallic" mortar is applied on the still fresh bonding coat. Finally, the surface is compacted and smoothed.
The result is a very quickly (re)usable surface with increased wear resistance - dimensionally stable, low-shrinkage, slip- and water-resistant as well as resistant to gasoline, mineral oil and solvents. Typical areas of application for "NEODUR HE 60 rapid metallic" are multi-story car parks, industrial, assembly and aircraft hangars, workshops and high-bay warehouses etc. exposed to the most severe indoor and outdoor stress.
