Forever Young - MTG - Vintage Microphone CMV 563 - M 7 S
The CMV 563 (CMV = Condenser Microphone Amplifier) came onto the market in 1956 and was manufactured until 1972 by the limited partnership Georg Neumann & Co., today Microtech Gefell GmbH / MTG.
As the highlight of the Thuringian microphone manufacturing company, it still sets the studio standard today.
Even today, after more than 60 years, the microphone classic made of Gefell in combination with the legendary M 7 capsule continues to enjoy undiminished demand.
The M 7 capsule - a Neumann legend
The history of the M 7 begins in 1932 at Georg Neumann.
The capsule developed by Georg Neumann formed the heart of legendary tube classics such as CMV3, CMV5, M49, CMV563, UM57 from Gefell, where the production of CMV models with M 7 capsules was continued from 1943 after a war-related relocation.
Until today modern concepts fall back on the groundbreaking M 7 design.
Exclusively handcrafted by Microtech Gefell, a company of Georg Neumann KG, the M 7 S joins the ranks of the best kidney characteristic capsules on the market.
This is also confirmed by current tests, such as a professional audio microphone comparison from May 2019.
The great success of the Gefell-based microphone manufacturer with the CMV 563 can also be seen in the fact that the anniversary reissue of this legendary microphone at international trade fairs, such as the 2019 NAMM Show in Anaheim/USA or Prolight & Sound 2019 in Frankfurt, was highly acclaimed as an MTG highlight.
The CMV 563 - M 7 S is the vintage reissue of the original Gefell CMV 563. It has the typical warm, full-bodied sound of valve microphones that are preferred by vocalists and soloists.
The microphone uses the original screw-on M7S capsule with PVC membrane and a newly developed N 61 power supply.
The vacuum tube pre-amplifier is equipped with the EF 86 pentode working as a triode selected for its sonic characteristics. The new N 61 power supply provides the operating voltage for the vacuum tube. It can be powered from AC mains with a primary voltage of 115 or 230 volts / 50 or 60 Hz. The N 61 is equipped with an on/off switch, a 7-pin Tuchel connector that powers the microphone and a 3-pin XLR connector.
The CMV 563 - M 7 S is packed in an aluminium suitcase and comes with power supply N 61, connection cable C 563.1, elastic suspension EA 92 and G/B adapter for the use of vintage bayonet M 7, M 8, M 9 capsules.
